More lies from the far right

Emmett McGroarty, education director of American Principles Project, applauded Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s controversial move to cut ties with the Common Core and the PARCC testing consortium.

The governor’s actions give hope to “the moms, dads and other citizens across America who are pushing back against a $600 billion education industrial complex and the elites in both parties who have been advocating for the national Common Core standards,” McGroarty said.

The American Principles Project has been active in organizing opposition to Common Core, including in Louisiana. McGroarty called the standards “defective and inferior” and said they were “foisted” on states by the federal government.

“Certainly, as the governor’s statement today recognizes, much still needs to be done to make things right,” he said. “But the governor's actions and words mark this as a historic day.”
