CRITICISM GROWS ON LOAN COLLECTION AGENCY: The Education Department’s main
collection agency for federal student loans’ “pursuit of student borrowers has
veered more than occasionally into dubious terrain,” according to the The New
York Times. Among the questionable cases: Arguing against allowing a pancreatic
cancer patient with medical and student debt to discharge her loans in
bankruptcy. An argument that another borrower who spent $12 at McDonald’s
hadn’t cut back enough on her personal budget. More from the article about
