The report says the market for pre-K to K-12 non-hardware education technology was valued at $7.97 billion in 2011-12, compared to $7.76 billion the previous year. The report collected data from 122 service providers and publishers.
The report also notes a growing need for Common Core-aligned content and a digital curriculum to prepare for new digital assessments aligned to the standards. Classrooms will also have to invest in platforms and administrative and IT infrastructure as more schools move toward a model of one-to-one device learning, it says.
